On the occasion of Constitution Day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi hailed the full implementation of India's Constitution in Jammu and Kashmir for the first time, marking a historic milestone for the region.

“On Constitution Day, we celebrate the full implementation of Baba Saheb’s Constitution in Jammu & Kashmir for the first time,” PM Modi declared, emphasizing the significance of the move in the context of the nation’s ongoing efforts to strengthen unity and democracy.

During his address at the event organized by the Supreme Court of India to celebrate 75 years since India's Constitution was adopted, the Prime Minister took the opportunity to reflect on India's journey over the last 75 years, noting the resilience of the country and its Constitution in the face of numerous challenges.

He pointed to the Emergency period as a defining moment when the judiciary's independence played a crucial role in safeguarding democratic values.

PM Modi also touched upon the country’s progress, highlighting significant initiatives that have reshaped citizens' lives. “In the past few years, 50 crore new bank accounts, 4 crore new houses, and 12 crore new water connections have been provided to the people,” he shared, underscoring the government’s efforts to bring about inclusive development.

Further reinforcing his vision for a more just and equitable society, the Prime Minister noted the shift from a punishment-based system to a justice-based approach, reflecting India’s evolving legal landscape.

Additionally, he acknowledged the government’s commitment to empowering women, with the historic Nari Shakti Bandhan Act and efforts to provide rights and recognition to the third gender.

Notably, PM Modi began his address by acknowledging the anniversary of the 2008 Mumbai terrorist attacks, stressing that while celebrating democracy, the nation must remember the sacrifices made.

“I take this pledge on behalf of the country that every terrorist organization challenging the security of India will be given a befitting reply,” he said.

In his concluding remarks, PM Modi invoked the words of Dr. Rajendra Prasad, urging the nation to prioritize honesty and integrity above personal interests.

"The spirit of 'nation first' will keep the Constitution alive for generations to come," and reaffirmed his commitment to fulfilling his duties within the constitutional framework.

"I have tried to stay within the limits of the work given to me by the Constitution. I have not tried to encroach upon anything because the Constitution asked me to do the work that I have done. Therefore, I have presented here my points while maintaining my limits. One only has to hint; there is no need to say much," he said.
