The Chief Justice of India Justice NV Ramana today asked the counsels to ensure that the pleadings they file in cases reach the judges before they reach the media.

The CJI while hearing a plea pertaining to iron ore mining in Karnataka remarked, “I got this affidavit this morning but my PRO says Deccan Herald ran an article on this yesterday itself. Please ensure it reaches us before it goes to media.”

ASG KM Natraj appearing for the government assured the court that this will not happen in Union’s pleadings.

Court was hearing the matter pertaining to lifting of ban on iron ore exports from Karnataka. When the matter came up for hearing, Prashant Bhushan, advocate, informed the court that an affidavit has been filed by the Ministry of Mines supporting the lifting of the ban, however, he submitted that the Ministry of Steels should clarify its stand on the same.

Further, many senior advocates including Mukul Rohatgi, Abhishek Manu Singhvi, Dushyant Dave, Krishnan Venugopal and ASG KM Natraj appeared in the matter and made their submissions.

The bench also consisting of Justices Krishna Murari and Hima Kohli opined that they would like to consider the submissions of the parties upon receiving the affidavit of the Ministry of Steel.
