A Supreme Court Bench of CJI U.U. Lalit and Justice Bela M. Trivedi, during mentioning, denied to hear an urgent plea against movie Thank God, starring Ajay Devgn, Rakul Preet Singh and Sidharth Malhotra. Matter is listed for Nov 21.
The plea states that the movie has objectionable scenes and derogatory picturisation of Hindu beliefs, and portrayal of Hindu Gods. Resultantly, the plea sought an urgent listing of the matter as the movie is set to be released on Oct, 25.
Notably, the trailer of the movie has sparked an outrage. It is alleged that the movie has certain scenes that hurts the sentiments of the people, particularly the Kayastha community, as per the news reports.
In the movie Ajay Devgn impersonates Lord Chitragupta, who is also "Lord of Karma who keeps a record of an individual's virtues and sins”, as per the claims.
Also, there is a subsequent outrage on Twitter seeking to boycott the movie on the same grounds.
