The circular stated, “Delhi has recently experienced an unfortunate incident in which three Civil Services aspirants drowned in the basement of a coaching institute and one aspirant has lost his life due to electrocution. It is imperative that all the schools in GNCT of Delhi shall ensure safety & security of students and shall have proper requisite infrastructure in place to avoid any untoward incident”.
The Directorate Of Education, on Wednesday, issued a circular to all schools in Delhi whether Government Aided or Unaided Privately Recognized to strictly adhere to guidelines of safety and security.
Such circular was issued following the incident that occurred in Old Rajinder Nagar. Three IAS aspirants, Shreya Yadav, Tanya Soni, and Navin Dalwin, died in a flooded basement at Rau's IAS Study Circle. The incident caused student protests, blaming the MCD for negligence. In response, officials sealed 13 illegal coaching centers in the area. A group of students also approached the court seeking an investigation into the deaths of the students. The High Court, in a court hearing that occurred on Wednesday, reprimanded the Municipal Corporation of Delhi over their inability to take accountability and resolve the matter.
Following this, the DDE Anita Vats issued a comprehensive circular aimed at ensuring the safety and security of students across all schools in the National Capital Territory (NCT) of Delhi.
The circular, underscored by a sense of urgency and responsibility, mandated strict adherence to safety guidelines. Principals and Heads of Government, Government Aided, and Unaided Private Recognized Schools were directed to comply with the following instructions:
