The Karnataka High Court has asked the Table Tennis Federation of India not to send the final list of the selected women players for the Commonwealth Games till the next date of hearing.

A bench of Justice PS Dinesh and Justice CM Poonacha was hearing a plea filed by Table Tennis player Archana Kamath whose name was there in the selected players' list initially but later was removed.

The bench while issuing notice on the plea, directed TTFI not to send the final name list for the upcoming Commonwealth Games.

The plea states that Archana Kamath is world rank no. 8 in the women's doubles and is the highest-ranked player in India. In addition to this, it was further submitted that Kamath has also been selected as part of the Target Olympics Podium Scheme as a potential medal prospect in the 2024 Paris Olympics.

The High Court has noted, "By interim direction, it is ordered that the selection list shall not be sent till the next date of hearing."

It may also be noted that recently the Delhi High Court had also issued notice to TTFI on the pleas moved by table tennis players Manush Shah and Swastika Ghosh challenging the non-selection for the upcoming Commonwealth Games.

Ghosh had moved to the Delhi High Court after Divya Chitale and Manush Shah. Diya has now been included in the list of players. Earlier she was included as a reserve player, the same was the case with Manush Shah.
