Synopsis

A writ petition has been filed before the Supreme court of India seeking a stay on declaration of results of NEET (U.G.) Exam held on May 5, 2024 till the investigations on paper leak are completed. 

Instant petition has been filed by young aspiring students between the age group of 18 to 30, who hail from different states of India, who had appeared for the NEET exam that was held on May 5.

A vacation bench of Justices Vikram Natha and Ahsanuddin Amanullah has sought the National Testing Agency's (NTA) response saying the "sanctity of the exam seemed to have been affected".

Court has issued notice but refused to stay the ongoing counselling for admissions. The matter will now be heard on July 8.

Petitioners have submitted that after having stumbled upon news of NEET exam paper leak they have been shaken at the core and are under tremendous stress and anxiety for they and their family members had nurtured the dream of becoming a medical practitioner one day.

"The Petitioners though they have prepared diligently might miss out on securing medical seats due to the unfair advantage gained by those with access to leaked information. This can be a huge setback, forcing them to wait a year to re-appear for the exam and potentially delaying their medical careers by a significant amount of time impacting their whole life...", the plea adds.

Notably, another plea has been filed in the Supreme Court seeking a fresh examination of NEET, held on May 5, 2024 for admission to medical colleges across the country, in view of alleged paper leak and other malpractices.

Said petition has been filed jointly by Abdullah Mohammed Faiz and Shaik Roshan Mohiddin from Warangal and Prakasam districts respectively, who claimed to be members of an organisation, working for assistance and benefit of the students.
