Court was informed that pendency as the CAT was slightly lower now with a drop of 1000 cases.

A division bench of the Supreme Court on Monday sought for a progress report from the Central Government on the construction of the new complex of the High Court at Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh.

Court was hearing a plea concerning the vacancies and pendency of the cases at the Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT) Benches in Jammu and Srinagar.

During the hearing, ASG Aishwarya Bhati informed the bench that there existed a tentative proposal that once the High Court shifts to the new complex, the High Court, Jammu Bench, building may be utilized for the purposes of the Tribunal.

"It may also be placed on record as to what is the progress being made as the two aspects are interlinked. List on 20.02.2024", thus ordered the bench comprising Justices SK Kaul and Sudhanshu Dhulia

Notably, last year, at an event organized for laying the foundation stone of new High Court building complex at Srinagar, the then Chief Justice of India, Justice NV Ramana had said that he was extremely glad as solving the problems of infrastructure was very close to his heart.

Referring to the benefit of abrogation of Article 370, the CJI said, "Now, you have the advantage of 100% funding by the Central Government. You all should work in a coordinated manner to fill the gaps."

This year in June, CJI DY Chandrachud laid the foundation stone of a new high court complex in Jammu.
