The letter petition has been written by Advocate Vineet Jindal to CJI UU Lalit requesting to take cognizance of the targeted killings of Hindus in Kashmir. It also seeks direction to provide Rs. 1 Crore compensation to the families of the victims and job to one family Member of the deceased persons.

Another public interest Letter petition has been addressed to Chief Justice of India UU Lalit requesting to take cognizance of the issue of targeted killings of Hindus in Kashmir.

The plea seeks direction to provide Rs. 1 Crore compensation to the families of the Hindu victims of the targeted killings and a government job to one family Member of the deceased. Moreover, it seeks direction to relocate Hindu Minorities with their jobs to Jammu to save their life.

The letter, written by Advocate Vineet Jindal, states, "The recent incidents of killing in Kashmir valley, especially the targeted killing of the members of Hindus, have once again reminded me of the violent incident of massacre of Hindus in 1989-90." It states that it is necessary to save their life from the hands of the terrorists as the Kashmiri Hindus are in a vulnerable situation in Kashmir.

"Undoubtedly, such barbaric killing would have an indelible impact on Hindus who feel threatened by this situation and would be shadowed by fear of death all the time in Kashmir. This systematic targeting of the Hindus has created a sense of fear, vulnerability, and insecurity among the Hindu community living in the valley," the letter adds.

Additionally, it submits that the Government of India initiated several schemes and provided an opportunity for the Hindu migrants of Kashmir to resettle in their native places to provide a sense of belongingness to these migrants. The declaration of Jammu and Kashmir as a Union territory by the government of India was done after the abolition of article 370, with the intent of creating a harmonious and secure environment for the minority migrants of Jammu and Kashmir but the recent heinous targeted killings of the Hindus have again terrorized their spirits of being a part of Kashmir.

The letter mentions the killings of a Hindu minority man namely Puran Kishan Bhat who was killed by an armed man near his residence in Sophian, Kashmir on May 16, 2022; a bank employee named Vijay Kumar in the Kulgam by Islamic terrorists on June 2 and throwing off a grenade at newly opened wine shop through the porthole window, killing one and injuring three others on May 17, etc.

"This systematic targeting of the Hindus has created a sense of fear, vulnerability, and insecurity among the Hindu community living in the valley," the plea adds.

It may be noted, Jindal had written to the former Chief Justice of India N.V.Ramana asking him to take cognizance of targeted killings of Hindus and Sikhs in Kashmir.

The letter stated that the recent killings in Kashmir Valley specifically targeted towards the minority Sikh and Hindu communities have reminded the people of the gory incident where 36 Sikhs were butchered at Anantnag in 2000.
