A Supreme Court bench of Justices Nageshwar Rao and Gavai today pulled up a lawyer for filing a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) seeking relaxation of NEET-PG 2020-2021 marks. The petition further sought that the mop up round should not be completed till the revised cut-off marks is published.

When the matter came up for hearing Justice Rao questioned the lawyer, “Who are you, what is your interest in it? Have you just seen something in newspaper and filed a writ petition?”

The lawyer informed the bench that he was a public spirited person and hence he has approached the court. The bench promptly asked him not to embark on any such adventure.

Justice Rao further quipped, “You mention before the CJI stating that there is a grave emergency while the authority has relaxed the cut off marks by 15 percentage already?”

The bench while dismissing the petition noted that, “The petitioner has absolutely no concern with the list in this petition. The precious time of the Court is wasted in such cases which can be used to hear other cases waiting listing.”

While refraining from imposing cost on the lawyer, the bench warned him not to file such cases going forward.
