Allahabad High Court on Tuesday remarked that shockingly when even the Judges are not safe from the Cyber thugs in the country, what can be said about the common people.

The Bench of Justice Shekhar Kumar Yadav was hearing a matter pertaining to cyber fraud with a retired High Court judge. Money had been withdrawn fraudulently from the bank account of the retired judge using his phone.

Taking on record that the reply filed by the DGP office, Lucknow, SP Crime and Inspector Cyber Crime (Prayagraj), regarding the number of registered cases pertaining to cyber frauds above and below Rs. one lakh, was not satisfactory, the court observed that it appears that the Police as well as the Bank, are not serious about the issue. Through an order on July 15, 2021, the High Court had asked the authorities to file the data and progress report.

Therefore, making stringent observations about this corrupt business all over the country, the Court issued notice to the Central Government, State Government and Reserve Bank of India asking to file their affidavit replying as to how the poor people’s money can be saved from such thugs and stating that in case of such mishappening, the Bank and the police will be held responsible.

Court said that it is the vow of the Prime Minister of the country that everyone has a bank account so that no middle man can take the money sent by the Government to the poor, the Court observed that accountability needs to be ascertained as to who will guarantee the safety of that money kept in banks.

Court further said that when the money of the poor is not safe even in the bank and thieves steal money from their account, then what should the poor do. Court added that it is a matter of thinking that the money deposited in the bank of the poor will have to be guaranteed and responsibility has to be fixed.

The matter has been listed to be next heard on September 14.
