Following the demise of gangster-turned-politician Mukhtar Ansari in a hospital in Banda, Uttar Pradesh last night, a three-member team will conduct a thorough magisterial investigation into the circumstances surrounding his death.
The Chief Judicial Magistrate of Banda has ordered this judicial probe, with the process set to include a post-mortem examination conducted by a panel of two doctors, which will be recorded on video.
Upon completion of the post-mortem, Mukhtar Ansari's body will be handed over to his son, Umar Ansari. Umar Ansari has expressed concerns about the post-mortem procedure, urging that it be conducted by doctors from AIIMS, Delhi, citing distrust in the local medical system and administration.
According to the official statement from the hospital, Mukhtar Ansari was admitted around 8:25 pm on Thursday and was attended to by a team of nine doctors before his passing.
Sibgatullah Ansari, Mukhtar Ansari's elder brother, has also highlighted concerns regarding Mukhtar Ansari's medical treatment prior to his demise.

Mukhtar Ansari's legal troubles were ongoing prior to his death, with convictions including a life imprisonment for the murder of BJP MLA Krishnanand Rai in April 2023 and another life sentence on March 13, 2024, for obtaining an arms license using forged documents in 1990.
